Sculpture by Nandor Glid depicts skeletons hanging
from barbed-wire fence
The International Monument was dedicated in 1968. A competition
was held to find a design for a sculpture which would represent
the suffering of the prisoners in the camp. This sculpture by
Yugoslavian artist Nandor Glid represents skeletons entwined
in barbed wire. The hands of the skeletons are supposed to look
like the barbs on a barbed-wire fence. In the background on the
right is the roof of the old service building.
