The Museum at the Dachau Memorial Site![]() One of the interesting displays in the Dachau museum is about Georg Elser who attempted to assasinate Adolf Hitler. Elser was a prisoner at Dachau who was released and afterwards planted a time bomb in a beer hall where Hitler was giving a speech. The assasination attempt failed because Hitler left the buildig before the bomb went off. Elser was a prisoner in the bunker at Dachau where he was treated very well, but kept in isolation. He was killed on April 9, 1945, according to the museum display. ![]() The photograph above was taken at the former entrance to the museum which is now the exit; it shows the end of the displays. The east wing of the service building is now open and there are memorials to the prisoners displayed in a room there. The photograph below shows these memorials; the second photograph below shows a close-up of the pink triangle in honor of the homosexuals who were persecuted by the Nazis. A total of around 10,000 homosexuals were sent to the Nazi concentration camps, including some who were imprisoned at Dachau. ![]() ![]() A movie about Dachau is shown daily in the museum. There is an English version which is shown at 11:30 a.m. and again at 3:30 p.m. Exhibits in the Bunker at DachauThe Museum at Dachau in 1965PreviousHome |
