The 1200-year-old town of Dachau was a well-known artists' colony in the 19th Century

On the left, you can see the rear of the new modern city hall; the baroque building to the right of it is the old city hall. The church spire marks the location of St. Jakob church. The rear of the yellow Zieglerbräu Inn is in the center of the photo. Bavaria's first concentration camp was opened on the outskirts of Dachau on March 22, 1933.
