Entrance to the Memorial Site is near the east wing of the service building

The Dachau Memorial Site officially opens at 9 a.m. when the first school tour group enters, followed by more tour groups every 15 minutes. However, the gate is actually open at 8:30 a.m. and there are no guards to prevent tourists who arrive early from getting a head start before the crowds arrive. The building shown here is the east wing of the former administration building. In front of it is a map of the camp. As you face this map, turn to your right, walk around the east wing and walk across the gravel to the west wing where the entrance to the Museum is located.
