Reconstructed guard towers on Alte Römerstrasse
at the entrance to Memorial Site
The former concentration camp is bounded on the east side
by a 10-foot-high reconstructed wall which faces Alte Römerstrasse.
The entrance to the Memorial Site is through the open gate to
the left of the first guard tower. The guard towers were torn
down when the camp was converted into a refugee camp for Germans
who were expelled from Poland, Czechoslovakia and eastern Germany
after the war. These guard towers were rebuilt in 1965.
