Oradour-sur-Glane

The photo above was taken in 1944, shortly after the destruction of the village. This view is looking toward the curve in the main street where it goes south to the Lower Town. Compare this photo with the one below, taken in October 2004, which shows how much the ruins are deteriorating.

The photo above shows the main street of Oradour-sur-Glane, Rue de Emile Desourteaux, looking toward the Upper Town. The photo below shows the same street as it looks today. Note the stairs on the right in middle of the photo below, which are the same stairs in the foreground on the right in the old photo above. Note the tram lines in both photos. Note the shadows in both photos, made by the sun in the west in the late afternoon.
