Note the stone sink in the center of the photo above. Another stone sink is on the floor under the water pump. I was told that this was used as a foot bath. The Dickmann House was on the Hellweg which was a dirt road covered with decomposed granite in the 17th century, so travelers needed a foot bath before going to the living quarters upstairs. Note the expensive tile floor shown in these photos. The Dickmann House was the home of a wealthy merchant.
