Berchtesgaden - a town in Bavaria The town of Berchtesgaden is located near Hitler's Eagle's Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) and can be easily reached by train; there are several hotels and it is an inexpensive place for tourists to stay overnight. Across from the Berchtesgaden Bahnhof (train station) is a Tourist Office where one can join a tour to the Obersalzberg where Hitler's Berghof once stood and then on to Hitler's former tea house, called the Eagle's Nest by Americans. Hikers can easily walk to the Königssee, which is 5 kilometers from Berchtesgaden, or one can take a bus to the lake. The Königssee is King's Lake in English; it is Germany's highest lake.
