This edition of the 45h Infantry Division
News was published on May 13, 1945, two weeks after the liberation
of the Dachau concentration camp. The headline "Dachau gives
answer to why we fought" is a reference to General Dwight
D. Eisenhower's words that the American soldier did not know
what he was fighting for, but at least, after seeing the Nazi
concentration camps, he knew what he was fighting against.
