Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin This was the guard station at the entrance to the American zone when Berlin was divided by the Berlin wall. Now it is a favorite place for tourists to take photographs. The Russian checkpoint station has not been preserved. Souvenir stands on the former Russian side of Checkpoint Charlie. On the American side, there is a Checkpoint Charlie Museum and several souvenir shops, selling postcards and T shirts.
