The photos on this page were sent to us by Jim Hartey; they are original old prints which he obtained from one of the British soldiers who liberated Bergen-Belsen. According to Mr. Hartey, the photos were accompanied by a "Special order of the day" from Lieutenant Colonel M.W. Gonin RAMC, in which he talks of No 11 (BR) Light Field Ambulance arrival at Belsen on 17th April 1945 and this letter thanks them on their departure on 23rd May 1945.
